CCS Surveying operates a dedicated Data Management Unit to process, validate and present the surveyed data in the desired digital format required by the client.
Our survey teams download and issue the surveyed data via email to the Data Management Unit at the end of each working day, allowing data collection on site to progress with the reassurance of knowing the previous days work has been processed and is ready for use.
Key tasks performed by the Data Management Unit
› Planning of Survey Times - based on Satellite positions
› Creating suitable 'Data Dictionaries' and 'Libraries'
› Creating 'Project Briefs' for surveyors
› Managing daily data issued from site
› Performing Quality checks on all data
› Processing GPS data using Trimble software in conjunction with National Network RINEX data from OSNI, OSI and OSGB
› Producing processing output reports per job
› Transfer and Manipulation of GPS data into suitable GIS/CAD formats
› Issuing of data to clients
Our Data Management Unit uses Trimble Geomatics Office and GPS Pathfinder Office software for all our GPS processing tasks. The software allows the Data Management Unit to integrate data from a variety of surveying techniques, including GPS (RTK and Postprocessed), Total Stations and convention levelling.
Powerful inbuilt quality control tools allow our staff to complete processing tasks with confidence more quickly and efficiently, providing a seamless approach to data transfer from the 'field to office' and back to the field again.
Software Functionality includes:
› GPS Baseline Processing
› Survey Network Adjustment
› Integration of survey types – GPS and Total Stations
› Quality assurance and quality control of data
› Digital Terrain modelling and contouring
› Volumetric calculations
› Datum transformation and projections
› GIS data capture and export
RTK post processing is set to 95% confidence limits, incorporating Rinex data from Both OSI and OS Great Britain, and Precise ephemeris, to gain as accurate data as possible in X,Y,Z.
Data is spatially validated with post processing software, ensuring that all positional and height data is thoroughly scrutinised before it is incorporated into the final digital format.
The validation of attribute data is done using GIS Software, which is setup to run various queries and find any blank or incorrect records. |
Finally the data is imported in to the desired digital format required to suit the client.
Throughout this whole process the Data Management Unit work closely with the client to advise and resolve any queries, and importantly to enable accurate data to be delivered on time. |
