CCS Surveying use Trimbles World class GPS equipment and processing software on all our surveying contracts.

Using the latest technology on a range of GPS equipment, we match accuracy and functionality to give a practical solution to each individual application.

From ‘Survey-Grade’ accuracy requirements using RTK GPS Technology through to GIS Data Capture and its associated mapping accuracies, CCS Surveying will advise and assist our clients to choose the most efficient solution.

We pride ourselves on offering each project the most up to date surveying techniques available, and this is achieved through the extensive functionality on the equipment we use.

Our chosen range of equipment solutions includes RTK, DGPS (inc. VRS) and GIS Data Collection all of which offer varying degrees of accuracy.

CCS Surveying now utilise the latest active GPS solutuons available on the market. This includes the Trimble GeoXH unit coupled with a Zephyr antenea that provides base station free surveying down to 20cms horizontal precison. This provides an easy to use and cost effective solution for live, on site as-laid surveying, we currently provide this service for Dublin City Council for the capture of watermains records as part of the ongoing Re-Hab project.

Trimble ProXRT- The New Solution
The ProXRT represents the latest in GPS surveying and data capture technology from Trimble. The setup consists of the GPS antennae, mounted on a pole for stability, clearer view of the sky and ensures the antennae is directly over the asset. The antenna is connected to the ProXRT receiver. This unit reads and processes the Satellite signals using its H-Star receiver. This receiver is the part of the unit that processes the satellite signals and is able to achieve 10cm precision when used with live or post processing.

The GPS receiver has no user interface, so the Nomad 800 unit is used to collect data. The Nomad is an advanced, rugged GPS and PDA device that can connect to the ProXRT via Blue Tooth. The Nomad features integrated digital camera, scanner and SIM card slot. This allows the device to be truly multi-functional; it can survey, record images, scan bar codes on assets, send and receive data across the internet. The Nomad features integrated GPS with 2-8mt precision, allowing the device to be used on it's on for asset location, recording and navigation.

The key to the high precisions that can be achieved through the ProXRT in real time is the use of the VRS network. This is a network of base stations that constantly monitor GPS signals and send out real time correction data through the Mobile phone network.

The Nomad uses Trimble's TerraSync software. This is a powerful surveying, mapping and data collection tools that allows the user to update existing data, create new lines or points, monitor the GPS status and to view a high resolution map. The Nomad receives the GPS data from the ProXRT and processes this with the live correction data from the VRS network to give you 10cm precision in real time. The software allows you to monitor the GPS constellation (i.e. the satellites that are visible over head), the quality of the signals and the estimated precision at that time. As the GPS data is correct live though the VRS connection, there is no need for any post-processing in the office. This means accurate surveys can be reviewed on site at the time, uploaded to a webserver in minutes where it can be downloaded and quickly converted into any GIS or CAD format allowing a final drawing to be produced on the same day as the survey.

The ability to survey with 10cm precision in real time with no need for base stations or post-processing, capturing of images, bar codes and data entry forms, allows a completely new way of asset management, information capture and surveying. More efficient, more versatile, more cost effective, giving the client a better solution.
